1-11-08 - Letter from Rita Vinson,
Pres. Brentwood-Oak Hills Neighborhood Association
(posted with Rita's permission)

PLEASE INFORM ANYONE AND EVERYONE TODAY WHO LIVES IN THE AREAS INVOLVED! Primarily Riverside/Beach - 820 and Hwy 30 to Meadowbrook/Lancaster

To the Greater Meadowbrook Task Force Team:

This afternoon, Friday, Jan. 11, we sent 29 letters to gas companies via  FedEx plus 18 more letters  via U. S. postal service.  Most will arrive at  the gas companies on Monday, and we anticipate that negotiation meetings  will begin the following Monday, Jan. 21.

The package to each company included:

1.  a 2-page letter (a copy is attached of the one addressed to Chesapeake  Energy, as an example.)

2.  a 5-page list of the 47 gas companies which were sent an individually  addressed letter.  (A copy is attached in two formats:  WordPerfect and  Word.)

3.  a 11"x17" color map showing the task force area:
a.  Where it is in relation to a sketch of the whole city
b.  An enlargement of just the task force area (A copy is attached.)

4.  a 11"x17" color map which is a satellite photo of the area.

A lot of work has gone into the task force effort to get us to this point,  and I'll not try to thank people individually here.    I am sending this message to all of the property owners and residents of my  area who are on my e-lists.  The important message is to still be patient.  Don't believe the high-pressure claims of the landmen who are still working  hard to get you to sign a lease before we can negotiate a more favorable one  for you.  They would like you to believe that only Dale/Chesapeake and  Holland/Paloma are players in our area, and now they are all part of  Chesapeake.  That does NOT mean there will no longer be any competition for  our mineral leases.  By sending our task force letter to all the gas  companies that we know of that are active in Tarrant County, we are  expecting to stimulate some interesting competition for Chesapeake. Our size  should give us extraordinary bargaining power.
Please help spread the word to your neighbors who don't have e-mail:  Please  don't sign a mineral lease until we have negotiated (a much better) one for  you!
