1-24-2010: CONCERT FOR THE PEOPLE OF HAITI
3pm at Arborlawn United Methodist Churck, 5001 Briahaven Road, Fort Worth
Featuring 20 minute presentations by Texas Wesleyan University Chamber Singers, Arborlawn UMC Chancel Choir, Schola Cantorum of Texas with a final conclusion of the combined choirs.  Robert MacDonald, former oranist/choir master of FW First Presbyterian and former organist of Radio City Music Hall will join Arborlawn's Jerry Westenkuehler.  Be uplited as you relieve the  horrible suffering due to the recent earthquake. Donations accepted at the door will go to American Red Cross for Haiti relief effort

Featured speaker: Dr. Al Armendariz, newly appointed EPA Administrator for Region 6.  A former SMU professor, Dr. Armendariz' groundbreaking research on air quality issues related to gas drilling caused a big stir last year.  Initially derided and criticized by the natural gas industry, Dr. Armendariz' research is forcing industry and local governments to take a closer look at the toxic effects of gas drilling in the Barnett Shale. 2-6-10:  EAST REGIONAL LIBRARY HOSTS ROMANCE AUTHORS
As Valentines Day approaches, what better way to get into the mood
 than a book signing with "romance" authors Leanna Ellis and Michelle Stimpson.
 Ellis wrote the acclaimed novel “Elvis Takes a Back Seat” and the 2008 release “Ruby’s Slippers.”
Stimpson penned “Boaz Brown,” “Divas of the Damascus Road” and the 2008 release, “Trouble in My Way.” 
 The authors will read from their latest works, answer questions and autograph books.
The events are free and open to the public.

7am to 7pm - Various Precinct Polling Locations
Take your civic duties seriously and be sure to vote in this election. Even though there is no exciting Presidential race this year, the candidates for many important national and state offices will be determined by this primary election.  For a complete list of offices on the ballot, click on 2010 PRIMARY ELECTIONS, Only Republican and Democrat candidates will be on the ballot in this primary.  Registered voters can vote in either the Republican or Democratic primary but you can only vote once.  Libertarian and independent candidates can be included in the general election in November.

1-20-10: FUNDRAISERS COMES THROUGH BIG TIME FOR HSNT
The holidays were good to Humane Society of North Texas.  WMNA volunteers gathered 2400 lbs pet food, $350.00 cash, bowls, toys, bedding and cleaning supplies. Marshall Grains' December "Meet the Need" 50% matching fundraiser netted $1100 in much needed cash, food and supplies - $770 from customers and $385 from MG.  Kudos to Mike, Eddie, Gigi, Joyce and everyone who contributed to this most worthy of causes !!

1-13-10: CARTER AVENUE STRUGGLE FEATURED IN FWWEEKLY
Meadowbrook resident Steve Doeung, "the last man standing" against the Carter Avenue pipeline,  appeared on the cover of the FWWeekly newspaper.  The feature article tells the dramatic story of Mr. Doeung's escape from Cambodia and how he ended up being the last resident fighting eminent domain on Carter Avenue. 1-1-10: RECYCLE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE - GET FREE MULCH
The City says: "Non-artificial Christmas trees up to 8 feet tall may be placed at the curb as part of the normal weekly yard waste collection through Jan. 30.
Trees taller than 8 feet should be trimmed into sections, each no longer than 8 feet. Remove the tree stand and all decorations, nails, plastic bags and other wrappings. Flocked trees are accepted. Trees will be mulched along with any brush collected. Residents can pick up free coarse-ground mulch at all Drop-off Stations."
